Overview
Neuromodulation therapy encompasses advanced techniques that alter pain signal transmission within the nervous system to achieve long-lasting or sustained pain relief. Unlike injections that provide temporary anti-inflammatory benefit, neuromodulation acts at the nerve level itself — using precisely controlled radiofrequency energy to disrupt pain-conducting nerve fibres, or electrical stimulation to modulate pain signal processing. Dr Malik’s primary neuromodulation offering is radiofrequency ablation (RFA), which can provide 6–18 months of significant relief for appropriate patients. He also provides expert assessment and referral for spinal cord stimulation (SCS) where clinically indicated.
Conditions Treated
- Facet joint pain (lumbar, cervical, thoracic)
- Sacroiliac joint pain
- Shoulder pain (suprascapular and axillary nerves RFA)
- Hip pain (Pericapsular nerve group RFA)
- Knee osteoarthritis (genicular nerves RFA)
- Persistent spinal pain
- Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS)
- Failed back surgery syndrome
- Refractory headache conditions
